Day 1 Nanjing

Today you are going to visit the most fabulous and famous attractions in Nanjing, including Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Linggu Temple (Soul Valley Temple), City Wall of Ming Dynasty, Xiaoling Mausoleum, and Nanjing Museum.
Lunch is served in a decent local restaurant.
In late afternoon, the local guide will accompany you to the Confucius Temple. It is the most famous place for night sightseeing in Nanjing.
After lingering for a while in the Confucius Temple, you will be transferred back to your Nanjing hotel.
- Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen: It is situated at the foot of the second peak of Mount Zijin (Purple Mountain) in Nanjing, China. Construction of the tomb started in January of 1926 and was finished in spring of 1929. The architect was Lu Yanzhi, who died shortly after it was finished.
- Linggu Temple (Soul Valley): This historical scenic spot has Linggu Temple and Pagoda, Beamless Hall, etc., and a public cemetery of fallen soldiers. Linggu Temple keeps the parietal relics of Monk Xuangzang. The name of Beamless Hall is from its special structure, there isn’t even one piece of wood or beam. The altar before Tan Yankai’s tomb is an original relic of Yuanmingyuan Garden.
- Ming City Wall: When Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of Ming Dynasty, built his sovereignty in Nanjing, he took the suggestions of his advisor to build a city wall. It took 21 years to complete, involving 200,000 laborers to move 7 million cubic meters of earth. Today the 600-year-old city wall of Nanjing still stands.
- Xiaoling Mausoleum: It was constructed for the first emperor of Ming Dynasty, the Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang. Starting in 1381, it took 25 years to complete the building. It is the resting place for the emperor and his wife, Queen Ma. In 2003, the mausoleum was selected as a site for the World Famous Cultural Heritage.
- Nanjing Museum: It is one of the museums that our country established first. The predecessor of Nanjing Museum was the preparatory department of the National Museum, which was established in 1933, under the purpose of Mr. Cai Yuanpei, who was the modern democratic scholar.
